Around 200 lighthouses are being planned to be converted into tourist destinations

Development plan includes possibilities of creating museums, aquarium and gardens at the lighthouses

The Union Ministry for shipping Mansukh Mandaviya announced a meeting today for planning 194 lighthouse facilities across India to be made into tourist attractions.

This plan was made to help with the development of the neighboring areas of the lighthouses along with the history of these locations. The officials in the ministry developed a detailed plan for the development of these lighthouse facilities.

According to the ministry, some of the lighthouses may be more than 100 years old. The plan to convert such old facilities into museums was also discussed. Many equipment and other instruments that were used in these lighthouses also contain a significant historical value.

Many other ideas of such as the development of Aquariums, water bodies, and gardens were also discussed. Some areas were especially considered for this development plan. These areas are Gopnath, Veraval, and Dwarka lighthouses of Gujarat. The officials were asked by the government to prepare details for this project and submit it as soon as possible.
