Rishikesh is known as the Yoga capital of the world. People from all over the world come to Rishikesh to learn Yoga and Ayurveda. It is the city where The Beatles visited and got their first eastern influence for their music.

Since the beginning of the lockdown, the Yoga business started to see a sudden drop in the bookings for their Yoga courses. Tourists have not arrived in India for almost 5 months now. Due to this the Yoga business is in decline as many centers are not able to afford the rent to keep their businesses open.

These yoga centers are popular due to the certified yoga courses that they provide along with the residential stay for the students. These centers have been incredibly successful due to the popularity of Yoga in Rishikesh.

In the third phase of the lockdown, the government has allowed the opening of gyms and some yoga centers. But due to the lack of international tourists, the business has not been going well. The domestic interest towards yoga in India is not that much since Indians are known to the practice of Yoga.

Currently, there are about 300 Yoga centers in Rishikesh alone. Many yoga teachers have worked really hard to start and build their Yoga businesses and more than half of these businessmen are forced to close their centers due to the lack of customers.

There is a possibility that these businesses will start again when international tourism begins. However, people who have closed their centers permanently, they may not be able to work again in this area.
