Atal Tunnel is now known as the world’s longest Highway at the height above 10,000 feet

Atal tunnel has managed to connect distant tourists destinations in North India.

A new record that is making India proud was recently created by the very famous Atal Tunnel, situated at Rohtang. This Tunnel successfully connects Manali with Lahaul, is located at an altitude of more than 10000 ft. The most awesome part of this is the recognition given by the World Book of Records, London. The tunnel is recognized by the World Book of Records, London as the world’s longest single tube highway at this height.

A spokesperson at BRO, Border Roads Organisation stated, referring to this, that a certificate from the World Book of Records was also received. Atal Tunnel has now been officially certified, said the Ministry of Defence. The certificate provided by the World Book of Records stated that the Atal tunnel is now the World’s Longest Highway Tunnel that proudly stands above 10000 Feet.

This legendary tunnel has officially proved to be a real game-changer for the district of Spiti and Lahaul. This tunnel is truly an engineering marvel situated in the Himalayas, all proud and loud. The tunnel is marvelous as it is safe and at the same time, it provides all-weather connectivity to many remote areas and will eventually connect with the rest of India.

The tunnel is not just safe, it is also very feasible. It successfully managed to reduce the distance between Manali and Keylong by 46 km. This almost saved two hours of extra travel time.

Standing at a height of 9840 ft, the south portal of the tunnel is near Manali and the north portal at a height of 10,171 ft is at Sissu in the Lahaul valley. Apart from safe travel, the tunnel has reduced the distance between Manali and Keylong by 46 km, thereby saving more than two hours of travel time.

Now one more amazing and crazy part is that Atal Tunnel is the world’s first tunnel that offers 4G internet connectivity. At every 60 m in the tunnel, you will also find CCTV cameras for which the surveillance is carried out through the control room. Then, at every 150 m in the tunnel, emergency exit doors have been installed. The cost of INR 3200 crore is spent to build this Tunnel as per the reports.
