Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh urges tourists to follow Covid guidelines

The Covid guidelines are being strictly enforced upon the tourists to control and manage tourists crowds.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Jairam Thakur announced that strict measures are being taken to control the flow of tourists. In the past month, many popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh have seen a tremendous rise in the number of tourists. This has resulted in the overcrowding of the highways, streets, and hotels.

The Chief Minister said that tourism activities cannot be stopped as it is much needed for the economic stability of the people and their businesses who are largely dependent on tourism. Due to Covid restrictions since last year, the businesses have suffered greatly.

Mr. Jairam Thakur insisted that the tourists should not be stopped, however, the management of the flow of the tourists and monitoring their behavior is needed. He said that measures are being taken to make sure the Covid-appropriate-behavior is observed by all incoming tourists.

With the concerns regarding the third wave, the increase in the number of new Covid cases, the state of Himachal Pradesh has the potential to be a hotspot of Covid infections. Keeping these concerns in perspective, the Chief Minister insisted that Covid protocols need to be enforced upon all the tourists and actions be taken against people who flout the Covid guidelines.

The destinations of Manali, Shimla, and Dharamshala have seen overcrowded streets due to hundreds of people traveling to the hills to escape the harsh summers.
