Cloudburst Claims 7 Lives, Sweeps Away Houses in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan

Heavy rainfall is predicted in the coming days for Himachal Pradesh

A cloudburst in Jadon village, Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, resulted in seven deaths and three missing individuals. The incident led to the destruction of two houses and a cowshed.

In another incident, a landslide at a Shiv temple in the Summer Hill area of Shimla prompted ongoing rescue operations due to the possibility of people being trapped. The region experienced 55 hours of continuous rainfall, causing flooding, landslides, and damage to houses, vehicles, and infrastructure across several districts. More than 800 roads, including major highways, were closed, impacting over 2,000 bus routes. 

The meteorological department issued a heavy rainfall alert for the next few hours and cautioned about potential cloudbursts and floods in certain catchment areas. Flood warnings were issued for nine districts until Tuesday. The Chief Minister declared a holiday for educational institutions, including colleges and schools, due to the situation.
