The government of Himachal Pradesh has taken a step to allow people to go out of their homes for one extra hour. This is to help people procure the necessary household items like groceries etc. This order is in effect from 26th April onward. Previously, people were allowed to go out and buy the essential items from 8 am to 11 am. This timing has now been changed from 8 am to 12 pm. Also, people who want to take a morning walk can do so from 5.30 am until 7 am in the morning.

This order was considered after the fact that no new COVID-19 positive cases have been observed, The state and its cities have sealed their borders to prevent the spread of the virus. They have been successful in dealing with the cases that were found to be positive.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur was happy with the way the state of Himachal handled the lockdown and contained the virus spread. He has also considered steps to re-open the state economy by allowing people to open their businesses with proper precautions. However, this is still under consideration and the decision will be taken after May 3rd once the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

The government has also announced that the residents of Himachal returning to the state will have to follow the strict quarantine procedure once the lockdown is relaxed. The plans to reopen the state economy are under review and it will slowly be opened without increasing any risk to Coronavirus spread.
