In about 60 years, this was the first time that Dalai Lama held his teachings without any public gathering. The obvious reason is to avoid the spread of coronavirus. The teachings were held on 16th – 17th May last week. These two-day lectures were based on the teachings of Nagarjuna who was revered in the Tibetan spiritual tradition.

Dalai Lama gave his teachings after a 5-month break due to the lockdown. His teachings were telecast live on his official website. These lectures can also be found on YouTube under the title, ‘Precious Garland’. Various translations into different languages are available. The original lectures were given in the Tibetan language.

Along with the teachings, Dalai Lama gave a message of compassion and collaboration during these times. He insisted that the need to work together is required to endure the coming times. He also told people to maintain the ‘Social Distancing’ measures to help the community to avoid the spread of the virus.

All public gatherings have been suspended until further notice. Dalai Lama will be conducting his teaching through web telecast from his residence in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. According to the officials of Dalai Lama, he is in excellent condition and he is taking care to maintain his optimum health.

Following is the link to the first lecture from the official YouTube channel of Dalai Lama called ‘Dalai Lama Archive’. Part 2 of the teaching is also available on this channel.
