Domestic flights to operate at full capacity

Earlier, the domestic flights were allowed to operate at 33% capacity.

The civil aviation department of India relaxed all restrictions on domestic flights starting from 18th October. The government officials announced that all airlines are now allowed to operate at 100% capacity for all their flights. This announcement came after observing a major decline in the number of new Covid cases.

Earlier, the flights were instructed to operate at limited capacity with a lot of empty seats in a plane. Now, that will no longer be the case. With more and more relaxation for domestic tourism and the upcoming festive season, medical experts still warn of the third wave of Covid. It is still uncertain whether this third wave will be as severe as it is feared to be.

Civil aviation has issued travel guidelines that include Covid-appropriate-behavior while traveling by air. That means social distancing measures and the wearing of masks are expected to be observed by the passengers. Since the last few months, the number of domestic tourists traveling by flight has increased drastically. In the coming months, more and more people will be traveling during the festive season and for winter tourism.

The tourist destinations such as Goa, Kerala, and Rajasthan are already preparing for the upcoming tourist season. Following is the news article from ‘Financial Express’ reporting about the domestic flights being allowed to operate at full capacity.
