Ministry of Tourism recently announced that all tourists entering the borders of the state will be checked for their hotel pre-booking status. This new rule was added to the measures that are being taken to curb the spread of the COVID in the state.

All tourists are expected to follow this rule to ensure that their stay would be a good measure to check if there is a possibility of contracting the COVID infection by the traveler. All airport authorities have been informed about this new rule.

For the passengers who are detected for carrying the infection will be quarantined as per the mandatory rule. Also, all passengers will be given an option to home quarantine themselves for 14 days.

Only if the symptoms are found, the passenger will be institutionally quarantined. According to the new guidelines, people entering the state might be exempted from the home-quarantine if the traveler produced a COVID negative medical report upon arrival.

For people opting for home quarantine, it is mandatory that they have a hotel pre-booking with the hotel. Also, under the home-quarantine procedure, the stay can be either in a hotel or paid accommodation of choice of the tourist. The proof of the pre-booking will be checked before entering the Goa borders.

Goa has seen a surge in the number of active cases after being a COVID free state in the initial months of the lockdown. With an increase in the number of travelers, the new cases are expected to rise in the coming months.
