Haridwar witness 1.2 million tourists in a single day, highest after Mahakumbh

The tourist number have increased after the decline in the number of Covid cases.

Tourists in Haridwar are least concerned about the feared third wave of Covid-19. The pilgrims are refusing to obey any protocols and are roaming around without masks. The social distancing rules seem like a far-fetched dream in Haridwar at this moment.

Mahakumbh, Kartik Poornima, and Guru Purab are considered as sacred and holy occasions in India. There were around 9.1 million pilgrims who attended Mahakumbh. And after that, Haridwar witnessed a 1.2 million influx of tourists on Friday. Pilgrims were ready to take a dip in the holy Ganga without any fear of the Covid-19.

The same story happened in April during Mahakumbh as well. The second wave in Uttarakhand was a result of the pilgrims returning and violating all the norms of Covid-19.

The Kartik Purnima bath invited around 12 lakh pilgrims from different states like UP, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. As stated by the Senior Superintendent of Haridwar Police, Yogendra Singh Rawat.

The SSP also mentioned the security measures taken to manage the pilgrims. The whole area was divided into 9 zones and 32 sectors. The police also encouraged the pilgrims to adhere to the standard operating procedures.

The rise in Covid-19 cases in countries like Russia, China, and southern states in India must be a solid indicator for people to not forget about the disastrous Covid-19. As we all know, prevention is better than cure.

Although, it was a good business time for the trading community. Why must it not be? After all, they saw many pilgrims in a single day after 7 months.

The traders, just like us, want the Covid-19 to get over and the situation to get back to normal. They were busy throughout the day and enjoyed serving the multiple pilgrims.
