Health officials in Jaisalmer checking on the spread Covid

There is tourist season ongoing amidst the Omicron scare.

JAISALMER: We have some news for you about the Golden City in India. Jaisalmer is pretty hot during the summers and these winter months are the best time to visit. The tourist season is here but amidst the omicron scare, the health department is looking at the possible huge footfall. They want to make sure that Covid-19 does not play spoilsport again.

CMHO Dr. Kunal Sahu Monday inspected several hotels and informed their owners to strictly follow Covid guidelines. They were advised to allow guests to enter the premises only after thoroughly checking their health statistics. The tourism professionals in Jaisalmer are pretty happy as the hotels are fully occupied during the New Year. They are fully occupied from December 22 to January 5. Air connectivity to Jaisalmer from Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur has made it easy for all to reach here.

During the ongoing inspection by the medical team, hotel personnel’s vaccination updates were also duly noted for future reference. Dr. Sahu was assisted by the district drug center in-charge officers Dr. BL Bunkar and Dr. Saleem Javed when he was inspecting.  He also directed the hotel owners to maintain a record of all the foreigners with their RT PCR reports and vaccination-related details.

Despite all these precautions taken by the medical department to curb the spread of the new variant, people were seen roaming around without masks. They were least interested in maintaining social distance at tourist spots. The locals are objecting to this as the cases are nill up till now but they are scared that if tourists do not follow Covid guidelines then there may be danger of Covid-19 spreading here as well.
