Health officials warn about the upcoming third wave of Covid-19

Large social and religious gatherings are expected during the festive season.

It has been observed that during the holiday season around the festivals of Dusshera and Diwali, the number of tourists traveling increases drastically. As per the recent data from the state of Himachal Pradesh, there is a 40% increase in tourists numbers during the festive season.

The experts from ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) have asked the state officials of the popular tourist destinations to establish strict guidelines to contain the spread of Covid-19. The states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand,  Goa, and others were asked to make vaccination certificates and RT-PCR tests mandatory for all tourists.

As per the ICMR officials, the number of new Covid-19 cases can increase during the festivals. Due to overcrowding and social gatherings, the chances to get the coronavirus increases significantly. The third wave of Covid-19 is also expected to occur during October.

In the coming few weeks, large social gatherings, political events, and religious gatherings are expected in different parts of India at all the important tourist destinations.
