Himachal is expected to receive large number of tourists during winter months

Temperatures are dropping significantly in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

In the past few weeks, the temperatures in all of Himachal Pradesh have been dropping significantly. The lowest recorded temperature in Himachal was minus 9 degrees Celsius.

As per the hotel owners, there is an expectation of a large number of tourists visiting the state of Himachal Pradesh to spend the winter holidays. New Year and Christmas are some of the major events which attract domestic tourists to the popular destinations of Himachal Pradesh. Some of the hotel owners believe that the number of tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh will be greater than the pre-Covid time.

Some of the most visited destinations include Shimla, Kufri, and Manali. These places are expected to be flooded with tourists in the coming weeks. The famous Atal Tunnel has been reporting heavy traffic as tourists are traveling more and more using their vehicles.

Despite the detection of the Omicron variant, the government has not imposed any strict restrictions on travel. Domestic tourists are free to travel all over Himachal Pradesh without any proof of vaccination or RT-PCR tests. However, tourists are expected to follow the Covid-appropriate-behavior.

Domestic tourism continues to be the lifeline to the tourism businesses which are trying to sustain themselves. However, there is still uncertainty among the tourism stakeholders regarding the possibility of recovery of the tourism industry.
