Himachal Pradesh’s goal is to have 15% of its vehicles be electric by 2025

An exhibition of electric vehicles was organized by the Transport Department of Mandi district

According to Transport Minister Bikram Singh, by 2025, the state government has set a target to replace 15 percent of vehicles with electric vehicles in Himachal.

The state government was making efforts to promote electric vehicles in the state, as stated by the transport minister. In January this year, the electric vehicle policy for the state was announced by the state government.

“The prime objective of this electric vehicle policy is to make Himachal a global hub for electric mobility and the manufacture of such vehicles. This step will also help to create public and private charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, “he also mentioned.

On the occasion of the International Shivratri festival at Paddal ground in Mandi, an exhibition of electric vehicles was organized by the Transport Department. Earlier, the Minister requested that people actively participate in this exhibition. Motor vehicle inspectors were deputed by the department to make information available to the people at the exhibition.

Various models of electric vehicles were displayed in this exhibition. He said, “Electric vehicles are very safe, and using them will help protect the environment.” He also mentioned that, as compared to petrol or diesel vehicles, the maintenance cost of electric vehicles and the cost per kilometer are lower.

“The batteries of small electric vehicles can be easily charged at home. It just needs to be connected to an electrical socket. The batteries used in these vehicles last for several years, which is a great step towards saving the environment. Also, the noise pollution caused by these vehicles is negligible, “he said.
