Indian airlines to cut down capacity

Airline companies have decided to waive off ticket rescheduling fee till January 31

The demand for air travel and cancellations are on high as the situation has changed again during the pandemic. And amidst the rising covid cases many major airlines are cutting down their capacity. This is not the first time that major airlines are facing an influential impact due to another covid wave. To lower down the effects, many prime Indian airlines have also decided to waive off ticket rescheduling fees and are offering a free change of flights till January 31.

IndiGo, in an official release, announced, “We anticipate that around 20 percent of our current scheduled operations will be withdrawn from service.”  The statement further mentioned that they have decided to waive off the change fee and are offering free date changes for all existing and new bookings till January 31, 2022, for flights booked up to March 31, 2022.

Airlines including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and AirAsia India announced waiver of ticket rescheduling fees recently. The other airlines are planning to make the same announcement pretty soon. Among other facilities, they are also planning to announce capacity reduction and waive off rescheduling fees.

SpiceJet, on the other hand, has announced its Free Date Change Offer, a facility for passengers.

If the request is made at least 48 hours before scheduled departure, the airline is allowing a one-time waiver on the change fee on all international and domestic flight tickets.

Air India announced that it will allow One Free Change on all its domestic flight bookings, while AirAsia has extended its rescheduling offer and is allowing free rescheduling for all flight bookings made till January 31, 2022, for travel until March 31, 2022.

Most Indian airlines had taken similar steps during the second wave of COVID-19.
