Indian government changes its decision to resume international flights

Several international flghts were scheduled to arrive to India this month.

Considering the fears regarding the new Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus, India has postponed the international flights. This month, several flights were scheduled to arrive in India from various countries. However, to assess and contain the risk of the virus, the scheduled flights will be canceled.

It seems that the recovery of the tourism industry has been halted again due to the new variant of Covid-19. The Omicron variant is much more transmissible as compared to the earlier variants. The health officials are on alert and are constantly monitoring the spread of the new cases in India. There are some travel bubbles with only special flights being allowed on certain routes. These flights are still being reviewed on whether they should be allowed or not.

If the risk continues to create another spike in the Covid-19 cases, we can expect another lockdown in India. This will severely impact the tourism business and the travel industry as a whole. The airline companies are also suffering from a financial downturn which might get worse with another lockdown.

Following is the news article from ‘Fortune.com’ reporting about the recent decision by the Indian government to cancel international flights.
