International airport in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh inaugurated

The airport is situated around 255 kilometers away from Varanasi.

The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the new International Airport in the Kushinagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This addition to the infrastructure is done under the initiative to boost tourism in India. Several other projects are underway for rail, road, and air connectivity that will help tourists to easily reach the popular destinations in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The Buddhist tourism circuit connecting all the important Buddhist temples and monasteries will be promoted due to the easier connectivity. The Kushinagar International Airport is situated at a distance of 225 kilometers from the famous destination of Varanasi. The major destinations in the famous Buddhist circuit are Bodhgaya, Rajgir, and Vaishali along with Sarnath, Shravasti, and Kushinagar.

More projects are being developed to improve the tourism infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh. These initiatives will help promote the state of Uttar Pradesh as an ideal tourist destination. With the start of international tourism, the destinations such as Varanasi are expected to receive hundreds of tourists this year.

Many states in India are slowly opening up for tourism activities. With the major decline in the number of new Covid cases, the tourist influx is expected to rise in the coming months. International visas have started being issued to foreign tourists. Many travel agencies also reported about reservations being made in Goa.
