After suffering severe losses due to the lockdown, the hotels will reopen from tomorrow while following strict safety protocols. The SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) have been finalized by the Karnataka government. Under these protocols, the tourists will be allowed in the state from tomorrow June 8.

All the business operators connected to the tourism industry such as Taxi operators, hotels, tour operators, and guides are allowed to function. All these businesses will have to follow guidelines such as social distancing and sanitization procedures. Along with these guidelines, the government has formed Crisis Management teams for the popular tourist sites.

The tourism industry needs to adapt to these new measures to continue their operations. Many activities related to site-seeing and visiting sites during traveling will change. There will be a lot of rules that are expected to be followed in order to stay safe during travel.

As of now, the Karnataka government has decided to open the hotels gradually in different phases. Hotels have been instructed to operate with 50% occupancy. Along with this, all hotels will be sanitized and the staff will need to train themselves to the safety guidelines.

Other states in India are also preparing to open up their tourism sector gradually. Many safety policies are still being decided upon by the state governments in order to ensure the health of the tourists.

The following video from Karnataka State Tourism Corporation shows the most visited tourist destinations in the state of Karnataka.
