Kashmir witnesses highest tourist influx in seven years, after almost a decade!

Despite the increasing number of Omicron cases, the tourist numbers are increasing for all tourist destinations.

Tourists in Kashmir have made a record! Yes, the spectacular Kashmir witnessed a total of 1,27,605 tourists in just a month of November 2021. According to the government officials of Jammu and Kashmir, if combined with the data of all other months, this stands out to be the highest.

As per officials, only 6327 tourists visited Kashmir in November 2020 which is a lot lesser than the present number of nearly 1,27,000.

As mentioned by Dr. GN Itoo, Director, Tourism Kashmir, nearly 1,27,000 tourists visited in November, and tourists in October who visited Kashmir were 93,000. Also, it’s no shocker now that this is the first time in the past seven years, these many tourists were viewed by the enchanting Kashmir.

Moreover, it has been observed that the influx could be the result of numerous campaigns executed in Kashmir to promote tourism. Not only campaigns like roadshows, but many other efforts also have been made by the people of Kashmir to invite tourists from all over India to enjoy the beautiful Kashmir. And mostly, these activities were planned and executed after the second wave of Covid-19.

The tour and travel fraternity of the valley was vaccinated after the second wave ended. This fact definitely boosted the confidence of the locals as well as the travelers. The Kashmir government organized around 21 successful roadshows within the country to attract tourists.

The most engaging and enthusiastic season: Christmas and New Year was also celebrated in full swing in Kashmir. Many themed carnivals were planned which in turn helped to call in more tourists during the winter months. Even International Mountain Day which is celebrated on 11th December was celebrated with passion and liveliness.
