Kedarnath Temple is all set to open on May 6

During the winter months, Kedarnath is worshipped at Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath.

According to a recent announcement, the sacred gateway of Kedarnath will be open for devotees this year from May 6 at 6:25 AM. The time and date for the opening of the holy and sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva were decided after a brief religious ceremony held at the Omkareshwar temple on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.

The temple gates will be thrown open on Vrishchik Lagna, said the Badri-Kedar temple committee official, Harish Gaud. Further, he also stated that Kedarnath chief priest Rawal Bhimashankar Ling and Badri-Kedar Mandir Samiti president Ajendra Ajay will also be present for the situation.

During the winter months, Kedarnath is worshipped at Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath. This happens during extreme weather, and because of the snowbound conditions, the gates of the Himalayan temple remain closed.

Decorated with flowers from the Omkareshwar temple here for Kedarnath on May 2, the panchmukhi (five-faced) idol of Lord Shiva will be left in an ornate palanquin. Uttarakhand is currently recovering its tourism industry and slowly getting more and more recognition for its development of the tourism infrastructure. With pilgrimages and development of the new tourism activities and tourist destinations, Uttarakhand is expected to receive a huge influx of tourists in the coming months.
