As part of the Post-COVID plan to revive the tourism sector of the state of Kerala, the government is planning to create more tour packages focused on learning. Apart from experiences being offered through many travel agents, learning packages hold great potential in increasing the revenue of the state.

The reason for incorporating the ‘Learning Packages’ into the list of ideas for tourism development is to encourage tourists to stay longer during their visit to Kerala. Such educational packages will include courses related to Ayurveda, Yoga, Arts, Martial Arts, and various other forms of craftsmanship.

All these initiatives will be taken by the government under the Responsible Tourism Mission department. The tour packages will have to register themselves with the department and prices will be according to the courses the tourists will choose. Many travel agencies have already received inquiries from international tourists for some packages and they have been told that the booking for these packages will be done once the international travel is allowed.

Many courses have a duration of around 6 – 9 months and some culinary courses will be of the duration of 2 weeks to a month. Until now, there are around 3000 tour operators have registered themselves under the Responsible Tourism department for this initiative.

Kerala tourism department has listed all the popular cultural experiences that India has to offer such as Dances, Arts, Crafts, Yoga, Ayurveda, Martial arts, etc. and created a detailed plan to encourage people to promote the packaging of these learning experiences for the international and domestic tourists.

After the lifting of the international travel ban, these packages will be available and it has the potential to promote the Indian culture and its diversity into the world.
