Landslide in Parvati Valley Forces Closure of Shimla-Chandigarh Highway at Chakki Mod in Himachal Pradesh

Recent harsh weather has caused landslides and flash floods throughout Himachal Pradesh

The Chandigarh-Shimla Highway (NH 05) in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh has been temporarily closed at Chakki Mod due to a landslide. The Solan Police Department has urged travelers to follow the alternative traffic plan while authorities clear the debris.

The recent landslide has caused the blockage, making the highway unsafe for vehicles and commuters. The authorities are actively working on removing the debris and stabilizing the affected area. The reopening of the highway will be announced once the work is completed.

Additionally, the impact of the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh, with 190 people reported dead due to various reasons, including 54 fatalities from landslides and flash floods, and 136 from road accidents and other causes. There are 34 people missing and 219 people injured. Furthermore, the monsoon has resulted in damage to houses, shops, and cow sheds in the state.
