Heavy rainfall and landslides have devastated Himachal Pradesh, causing widespread destruction and loss. More than 800 people were evacuated from low-lying areas near the Pong Dam due to elevated water levels. The Indian Air Force participated in rescue efforts, and the evacuation operation is ongoing.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed condolences for the lives lost and praised the relief operations. The death toll reached 29, with nine individuals buried in a temple landslide in Shimla. Water release from dams led to floods in Punjab, prompting evacuations. A significant landslide hit the Krishnanagar area in Shimla, destroying houses and a slaughterhouse. Efforts to rescue trapped individuals were underway. Multiple landslides had occurred earlier, causing additional fatalities.
