More Covid restrictions imposed in Kodaikanal

Entry to many popular tourist destinations is restricted.

As a Covid-19 preventive measure, the district administration of Kodaikanal has imposed more travel restrictions. With the spike in the new cases reported in Kerala, the administration has noticed the overcrowding of popular tourist destinations.

According to the new rules, the following are some of the areas in Kodaikanal where entry of tourists has been banned.

  • Bryant Park
  • Chettiar Park 
  • Rose Garden
  • Coaker’s Walk 
  • Guna Caves 
  • Pillar Rocks 
  • Vattakanal Waterfalls
  • Pethuparai
  • Green Valley view point
  • Dolphin’s Nose point

Also, the many forest areas with waterfalls have been temporarily closed for the tourists. Recently, there has been overcrowding of tourists that was observed since last few weeks. To prevent the risk of a major spike in the new cases, the entry of tourists has been banned in popular areas.

Also, the gathering of tourists in large numbers has been banned as well. 

In the coming weeks, if the cases go down and the positivity rate is contained under a certain percentage, then the tourist destinations will open up again. As of now, entry to the above-mentioned tourist destinations has been restricted.
