More than 200 tourists left stranded following bridge collapse in Rudraprayag

Heavy monsoon rains caused floods and landslides in Uttarakhand

Around 200 tourists en route to the Kedarnath pilgrimage were stranded when a portion of a pedestrian bridge in Rudraprayag’s Bantoli collapsed. Local authorities initiated a rescue operation, with 52 people rescued so far. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the scene, finding people stranded due to high water levels. The rescue was briefly delayed due to the river’s conditions.

In a separate incident, a house collapse near Joshimath led to one death. Heavy monsoon rains caused floods and landslides in Uttarakhand, blocking roads and resulting in casualties. SDRF and NDRF teams were deployed to help in affected areas.
