Negative Covid-19 test report required to visit Uttarakhand

This decision was taken after observing the huge influx of tourists visiting Uttarakhand.

The state government of Uttarakhand took a decision that will require all incoming tourists to present a Covid-19 negative report before entering the state borders. This recent decision was taken after considering the huge number of tourists running towards the hills to escape the severe summer season.

The tourists from North India are known to regularly visit the hills of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the summers. The major states such as Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab are among the top places from where the maximum number of tourists visit the hills.

This year has been quite stressful as far as lockdown is concerned and people were looking for every opportunity to travel. As soon as the lockdown restrictions were relaxed last month, there are ben overcrowding of tourists in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The overcrowded tourist destinations could increase the risk of Covid-19 spread in North India. Considering the possibility of the third wave and the spread of the new Delta-plus variant, the government of Uttarakhand has decided to impose the rule of the Covid-19 test before traveling.

On the other hand, the incoming tourists have turned out to be a blessing for tourism-related businesses. The hotels and homestays have seen some improvement in their business revenue due to the revived tourism activities.
