Over 100 houses in Himachal’s Rampur develop cracks following heavy rain and floods

The tourism industry has been severely affected by the monsoon

Continuous heavy rain and floods in Himachal Pradesh’s Rampur have caused over 100 houses to develop cracks, reminiscent of the situation in Uttarakhand’s Joshimath earlier this year.

The disaster has led to a significant loss estimated at Rs 5,691.79 crores since June 24, with 190 people losing their lives due to various reasons, including landslides and flash floods.

The Chief Minister has sought financial aid from the Union government to help the disaster-hit state. Restoration efforts are underway, focusing on repairing roads in apple-growing areas to ensure the smooth transportation of crops to markets.

The tourism industry has been severely affected, with occupancy rates plummeting.
