Plans to start Eco-Tourism projects in Kullu district’s Banjar Valley of Himachal Pradesh

Currently the forest sites of Soza and Jibhi are being planned for Eco-Tourism.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Jai Ram Thakur said that the government is formulating plans to promote Eco-Tourism projects in the Banjar Valley area. The Banjar area is located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

Currently, the government is focusing on the Forest Rest Houses to be developed as Eco-Tourism destinations. The state government has already started online bookings for these forest sites. The forest sites are located in Soza and Jibhi area. The Banjar Valley area has a huge potential as an ‘Eco-Tourism’ destination for the tourists.

The Chief Minister has already allotted funding for the development of these Eco-Tourism project in the Banjar area of Kullu. The foundation stone for the development of a Helipad has already been laid down in Banjar.

The Rest Houses within the forest would provide all the facilities of the modern hotels while keeping the natural balance with the local people and wildlife. These sites also help in providing employment for the locals.

The local people of the Banjar area have also generously donated to the Disaster Relief Fund for the area where many face masks and other required equipment were distributed to the local people.

Another project, where the Chief Minister donated funds is for the ‘Lift Irrigation Scheme’ which will benefit the local population of around 2000 people in Reri, Dogadhar, and Mashanga area. This project provides irrigation facilities to a large amount of agricultural land and this facilitates the work for the locals during the pandemic.
