Prime Minister Modi announced free Covid-19 vaccines starting June 21

Mr. Modi also spoke about 'Vaccine Hesitancy' that he said is based on misinformation.

Yesterday on 7th June 2021, the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi announced that the central government will control the supply of all the vaccines. These vaccines will be distributed to all the states of India free of cost. He said that the vaccination distribution will start from 21st June which is also celebrated as the ‘International Yoga Day’.

The Prime Minister said that all adults above the age of 18 years will get vaccinated for free. Mr. Mode also said that 75% of all vaccines from the vaccine producers in India will be bought by the Central government and will be distributed to the state governments.

Earlier, the state governments requested the central governments to procure their own vaccines so they can meet the increasing demands of the vaccines for which the Central government denied.

The Prime Minister also said that the major challenge in the vaccination of the country is the misinformation spread by the people who are against the vaccines. He said that there is ongoing research on a new ‘Nasal Spray Vaccine’ being done in the country.

Mr. Modi also announced free food to the poor population of India who has been hit by the lockdown restrictions and lost their jobs and means of earning a livelihood.
