Reservations cancelled by foreign tourists in Kerala

The number of domestic tourists have increased in Kerala since 2020.

With the recent scare of the new Omicron variant of Covid-19, many hotels have been reporting about the cancellations made by international tourists. This has made tourism business owners worry about the future of their businesses.

Recently, Kerala has seen a large number of cancellations for hotels and tourism packages by international tourists. Although there are no cases of Omicron in the state of Kerala, international reservations are being canceled. There has been a significant drop in the number of international tourists. But on the other hand, domestic tourism has increased in Kerala.

The domestic tourists have managed to provide the much-needed revenue to the hotels and the other tourist activity businesses in Kerala. Kerala has been a hot spot for Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. But it has managed to vaccinate the majority of its population.

India has detected several cases of Omicron variant in the states of Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Delhi. There is no real data on how many people have already been infected. The contact tracing and increased testing are going on already. In the coming weeks, more clarity on the number of infections will be given. Until today, the total number of Omicron cases has reached 10 in India.
