Shacks will open for business from the month of October

Number of open shacks will be limited.

The government of Goa announced allowing all shack based businesses to open from October. The month of October officially marks the opening of the tourist season in Goa. After being negatively affected by the COVID restrictions, these businesses need a much-needed boost in their business during the upcoming tourist season.

Mr. Michael Lobo, the minister of Science and Technology made an announcement about the chartered flights of Russian tourists to arrive in October. The bars in the state will also be allowed to open in September.

Also, there is a possibility to keep the number of shacks to certain numbers. There is no clarity about the number of charter flights to be allowed from Russia during the upcoming tourist season. The shacks will be allowed a different location to keep the social distancing in place.

According to the government officials, the state is working hard to prepare for the next month and planning to start the booking of the chartered flights to Goa. All other hospitality preparations, sanitization of the airports, and hotels are currently underway.

Mr. Michael Lobo also said that we have to wait for the month of September to review the situation and make plans according to the severity of the COVID situation.
