The DCGI has approved the study to check mixing of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines in India

The new clinical trials will be conducted on 300 healthy volunteers.

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has announced that they have been permitted to test the effects of the mixing of vaccines. The vaccines included in the trials will be Covaxin and Covishield. Both these vaccines have been the most administered in India.

Recently, in few places in India, the health officials mistakenly have given a different vaccine dose as the final dose to some people. The results in terms of recovery have been positive according to the health officials.

Further clinical trials to check the efficacy of vaccine mixing are expected to be done by Christian Medical College in Vellore. 300 healthy volunteers will be chosen to test the cocktail mix of the two vaccines.

There is no clear data on whether there are any long-term effects or serious side effects. Some other vaccines are also in the pipeline which can have better or even worse effects if not studied properly.
