The famous ropeway in Auli shuts down after 30 staffers test Covid positive

The number of Covid cases have been on the rise since the past few days.

The 4.5 km long ropeway that transports people from Joshimath to Auli has shut down for the public when 30 staff members were tested positive for COVID-19.

When it comes to a snow wonderland where people love to ski; Auli in Uttarakhand stands among the most popular places. The gorgeous picturesque hamlet in Uttrakhand is visited by thousands of tourists from across the country. It’s a popular ski destination in India that also hosts many competitions and other activities around it.

According to Chamoli Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. SP Kuriyal,30 people tested positive out of 45 samples that were sent to them. The ropeway staff, porters, and taxi drivers tested positive for COVID-19. Now that the ropeway is closed for all the tourists, they would require to travel and manage 16km to reach Auli from Joshimath.

The health authorities are big-time doubting the tourists for spreading the infection to locals. As the tourists that come to Auli are pretty diverse and come from different locations. The Auli administration will be keeping a check now on all tourist activities and checking them for Covid.

Situated at around 3000 m above sea level, Auli is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is considered a snow wonderland. Till now, the district has recorded 25 new cases recently. The district administration is working on helping in keeping the tourists healthy and safe.

Up till now, the Chamoli district where Auli is based reported 25 new cases. It is a snowy wonderland for a reason. It is set at a height of 3000 m above sea level. The administration is helping tourists leave the hill station safely after the cases came to light. Also, recently, around 58 roads were blocked in the district due to heavy snowfall.
