Tiger in Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

The two most popular tiger reserves of Rajasthan are Ranthambore and Sariska national parks. These two reserves are scheduled to open for the tourists from June 8. Both these popular reserves have been closed for the last 2 months.

According to the forest department officials, the reserves will follow the health and safety guidelines set by the government. Following these protocols will ensure the safety of the tourists. These guidelines state that social distancing measures will be strictly followed and only 50% of seating capacity is allowed. Another rule states that senior citizens and children below the age of 10 will not be allowed on the safari.

Proper sanitization, wearing masks, and limited the movement of the tourists within the reserve are the protocols that will need to be strictly followed. Booking of the ticket has been moved online to ensure social distancing.

The tiger reserves throughout India have been seen cutting their budgets due to the loss of revenue during the lockdown. Since being a part of the tourism industry, these reserves have suffered economically. The decision is still being made on the cost of the tickets and safari packages. Some believe that increasing ticket prices will discourage tourists. Only time will tell if these reserves will be able to recover from the after-effects of the lockdown.

The following documentary about the Ranthambore National Park by ‘IndianWildlifeClub’ shows the conservation efforts to help the ‘Bengal Tiger’ of India.
