Total vaccination count in India to reach 1 billion

The release of the new vaccines will increase the vaccination number drastically in India.

As per the recent numbers given by the Central government of India, India has vaccinated around 960 million people. The government was aiming for 1 billion vaccinations and that number is about to be reached. Among the 960 million, 73% of people have received the first dose of the vaccine and the other 29% have received both doses.

As of now, the Indian government is not exporting any vaccines to foreign countries. India has planned to use their homemade vaccines on its entire population. So far the efficacy of the Indian vaccine ‘Covishield’ has proven to be better than the other international vaccines.

Apart from Covishield, Covaxin and Zycov-D are other vaccines that are being released into the Indian market. Zydus Cadila’s vaccine Zycov-D is the recent vaccine that has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). Zycov-D is a needle-free vaccine and it is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine.

With more vaccines being developed in India the vaccination rate will rise drastically. By the end of this year, the vaccination numbers are expected to climb up. Following is the detailed report from ‘Indian Express’ reporting about the recent vaccination numbers.
