Tourism Festival of Odisha will start on 15th December

The three-month long festival is a huge promotional event to promote domestic tourism.

The Odisha tourism department in collaboration with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) had a meeting recently to discuss the initiatives to promote the tourism industry of Odisha.

The 3-month long tourism festival of Odisha is scheduled to begin on 15th December. This festival is a huge promotional event to attract domestic and international tourists. Several plans have been made to attract tourists. All the connecting roads and necessary tourism infrastructure are in place to help tourists reach the best destinations of Odisha.

All the adjoining cities and states have been well-connected to the popular tourist destinations of Odisha. The tourism ministry is quite positive in terms of the revival of the tourism industry of Odisha post-Covid. The 7 main tourist destinations have now been opened for tourists. These destinations are Konark, Hirakud, Pati-Sonapur, Satkosia, Daringbadi, Koraput and Bitarkanika.

Despite the Omicron virus being detected in several cities of India, the tourism activities in Odisha are in progress. There is still no clarity on whether the Omicron infection will be fatal or not.

International tourism may not start this year due to the Omicron scare. International travel guidelines are being reviewed and also many foreign tourists have started to cancel their reservations. There is still a slight possibility of another lockdown period if the new variant is found to be fatal. In the coming few weeks, more data will reveal the intensity of the Omicron variant. Until then, domestic tourism is still going on in India.
