Tourism is on the track of revival as more and more travel inquiries have been observed. Many hotels and tour operators have seen an increase in booking inquiries from the customers.

However, India is still slowly unlocking the lockdown restrictions. State such as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir has opened up for tourism. In Jammu and Kashmir, travelers are only allowed by air flights.

According to the hotel owners and tour agencies, the tourists are still a little reluctant to travel due to the restrictions as well as due to risk of contracting the virus while traveling.

In Himachal, many tourists have arrived while carrying a COVID negative medical report. Uttarakhand has also seen a surge in the incoming tourists. However, there are some areas in Uttarakhand where the tourists are still not allowed without the COVID negative certificates. Many tourists are still hesitant in getting the certificate because of the fear of getting a virus at the hospital.

Hotels in Shimla have also reported an increased number of tourists and booking inquiries. There is a minimum stay policy of 5 days in Shimla.

In Goa, currently, 250 hotels have been authorized to operate. Tourists are still hesitant to travel to Goa due to increased air and railway fares. It has been reported that the frequency of air flights has increased along with booking inquiries.

All travelers are expected to install the contact tracing app called ‘Aarogya Setu’. In the coming weeks, we can expect some increase in domestic tourism as well as some new announcements regarding international air travel.
